Defending champion and world runner-up Al-Hilal scored three wonderful goals to win 3-1 against Shabab Al-Ahly Dubai of the United Arab Emirates in an Arab summit in the AFC Champions League held in Qatar on Monday, to advance to the quarter-finals.
Nigerian Odion Ighalo opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a stunning shot from outside the penalty area, after he rounded a defender after a pass from Musa Mariga.
South Korean Jang Hyun Soo doubled the score in the 73rd minute, after receiving a free kick with his head, the goalkeeper blocked the ball and hit the goal frame, before the same player followed it up again with his head in the net.
After another six minutes, Al-Hilal completed its hat-trick after Salem Al-Dosari received the ball with great skill with the heel, before it touched his teammate Luciano Vietto and scored the net.
Shabab Al-Ahly narrowed the difference in the 86th minute, after Omar Khirbin took advantage of a mistake by Al-Hilal players to put the ball into the net.
The teams that qualified for the quarter-finals will play next Thursday.
