Equestrian Rashid Ahmed Sagheer Al Ketbi, who was crowned with the gold medal in the Youth and Junior World Championships for endurance horse racing, which was held the day before yesterday in the Al Qudra Village in the French city of Castelsgrat, expressed his pride in gifting the UAE the world title and preserving the supremacy of the country’s knights in this championship for the fourth time in a row.
Al-Ketbi said after the coronation ceremony that the race was not easy, and witnessed strong competition in various stages, praising the horse “Eddie de Montreizer”, who had good faith in him, and also praised the coach, Mohamed Al-Sabousi, whose guidance had an effective impact in achieving victory.
Al Ketbi won the gold medal alongside Rashid Mohammed Ateeq Al Muhairi, who won the silver medal in a strong competition with the participation of about 70 male and female riders representing 25 countries.
Bahraini Issa Hamad Al-Enezi won the bronze, while the team title went to Bahrain.
Maitha Al Qubaisi, Saif Bel Jafla and Khalifa Al Amimi, as part of the UAE team sponsored by Emaar, a leading real estate development company and one of the main partners of the Dubai Equestrian Club, participated in the race.
The winners of the team category were also crowned, as the Bahraini team won first place, the French team came in second place, and the Italian team took third place.
A member of the Board of Directors, Director of the Dubai Equestrian Club, and Managing Director of the UAE Team, Major General Dr. Muhammad Issa Al-Azab, expressed his overwhelming happiness that the Emirates Knights continued their superiority by winning the title of the World Youth and Junior Endurance Championship, in addition to the silver medal, despite the intensity of competition and the challenges of the tracks.
He thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, for the unlimited support for the Emirates Knights, the result of which was the sustainability of this initiative.
