Al-Khaldiya won the Bahrain Super Cup for the second time in a row, beating Al-Hala 2-0 on Friday at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town, in the thirteenth edition.
Mahdi Abdul-Jabbar (73) and Omani Salah Al-Yahyaei (90+4) scored the two goals.
This is the second time that Al-Khaldiya has won the title after the 2021-2022 season at the expense of Al-Riffa Club.
Muharraq holds the record for the number of Super Cup titles with four times (1995, 2006, 2013 and 2018), compared to two for Al-Najma (2007 and 2008), Riffa (2019 and 2020), Hidd (2015 and 2016), Al-Khaldiya (2022 and 2023), and once for Riffa East (2014) and Manama (2017).
Al-Khaldiya was the better side throughout the match and opened the scoring through Hamidan in the third minute, but it was disallowed for offside.
Al-Khalidiya waited until the second half to score against Al-Hala, opening the scoring when Iraqi Dhurgham Ismail passed a perfect ball to Abdul-Jabbar, who followed it up skillfully (73). Substitute Al-Yahyaei added the second goal when he penetrated the area alone with goalkeeper Othman Sido before following the ball into the goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
