Emirati cyclist Mohammed Al Mutaiwee participated in the World Road Cycling Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, which concluded yesterday, Tuesday, in an individual time trial race for the under-23 category, over a distance of 29.9 km, and came in 47th place out of 70 participating cyclists.
The Secretary-General of the Federation, Yasser Al-Dokhi, confirmed to “Emarat Al-Youm” that the player’s participation in the championship comes within the Federation’s plans to enhance the expertise of Emirati cyclists, as the cyclists were distributed to the World and Asian Championships.
Al-Dokhi praised the participation of Mohammed Al-Mutawaei, who is ranked seventh in the world in the individual pursuit category of the track, as the player seeks a new achievement after winning the silver medal in the Asian Road Championship under 23 years last May.
The Secretary-General explained that the upcoming period will witness the team’s participation in the World Track Championship in Denmark next October, in addition to the Arab Track Championship in Egypt, and the Arab Road Championship in Iraq.
