Al-Nasr strengthened its position among the four clubs with the most championships in the history of Emirati football by reaching the 20th title after winning the UAE-Qatari Super Cup, after defeating the Qatari team 5-1, the day before yesterday, at Al Maktoum Stadium.
Al Ain Club topped the list of the most decorated local clubs with 36 titles, followed by Shabab Al Ahly with 34 titles, then Al Sharjah Club in third place with 21 titles.
The match between Al-Nasr and Qatar witnessed a large crowd of fans and admirers of Brigadier Al-Nasrawi, the oldest Emirati club, who returned to the crown and gold podiums five years after the last championship he achieved, which was by winning the Professional Cup title in 2020.
For his part, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Nasr Club, Humaid Al-Tayer, told Emirates Al-Youm: “Al-Nasr achieved a well-deserved championship and represents the nation. We thank the fans. Our goals were clear, to win the Emirati-Qatari Super Championship, and we seek to achieve the Gulf Champions League title for clubs.” In addition to not losing the opportunity to compete for an advanced position in the ADNOC Professional League, achieving one of the top three positions, and qualifying to participate in an external tournament next season.”
Regarding strengthening the team’s ranks during the current winter transfers, Humaid Al Tayer said: “Al-Nasr needs calm and stability in the coming period more than it needs to strengthen the ranks, so that we do not adopt any wrong or hasty decision, as Al-Nasr has been making major changes in the past years at the level of the coach or Foreign players are in the middle of the season, which prompts us to change the system and stabilize the team and players until the end of the season.”
He continued: “We know that the team needs support in some positions, but this will not happen quickly, and we will take our time in making the decision, and it will be thoughtful, especially in the winter transfers, as it is difficult to find distinguished players in this period, and this is what the Board of Directors is pushing.” The club should not rush to make a decision.”
