Al-Nasr continued its successful series in the Basketball League by defeating its host Al-Jazira (88-56), the day before yesterday, for the sixth round of the first leg of the preliminary round, which recorded Sharjah breaking the 100-point barrier, with its strong victory over its guest Al-Dhafra (105-75).
The round also witnessed Shabab Al-Ahly regaining its winning tone, by defeating its guest Al-Wasl (97-61), and the ground continuing to play with its owners with Al-Bataeh’s victory over Al-Wahda (91-86).
Al-Nasr maintained its lead in the general standings with a full score with an unbeaten record, with 12 points, one point ahead of its rivals Al-Sharjah and Shabab Al-Ahly, while Al-Bataeh advanced to fourth place with nine points, and Al-Wasl’s loss led to its decline on the ranking ladder and entering into a partnership with Al-Wahda in the In fifth place with eight points each, while Al Dhafra and Al Jazira occupy seventh and eighth places with seven and six points, respectively.
Al-Jazira surprised its guest Al-Nasr, after “Abu Dhabi Pride” managed to finish the first quarter ahead by six points (24-18), but the difference in experience was in the interest of the “Al-Ameed” players, who succeeded in returning the result of the match, and achieved their sixth victory in a row by gaining the advantage. The results of the second and third quarters, and then the fourth quarter, were (25-9, 21-15, and 24-8).
Sharjah did not find it difficult to break the 100-point barrier, after the “King” players dominated the four periods of the Al Dhafra match (28-24, 19-15, 32-19, and 26-17).
Shabab Al-Ahly suffered before ending the first quarter with a draw against Al-Wasl (24-24), before the “Knights of the Basketball” were able to decide the match in their favor by gaining the advantage in the rest of its stages (29-10, 24-16, and 20-11).
In the match between Al-Wahda and Al-Bataeh, the former prevailed in the first and third quarters (21-18 and 33-7), but Al-Bataeh emerged prominent in the second and fourth quarters, and turned the match in its favor by winning them (33-22 and 28-12).
