The Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team won the title of the second round of the Formula 2 World Boat Championship, which was held on Sunday evening in the Italian city of San Nazzaro, with the Abu Dhabi boat 35, led by Rashid Al Qamzi, winning the title of the main race, amid strong participation from 17 boats, and passing through one of the most difficult stages of the championship while Mansour Al Mansouri on the Abu Dhabi 36 boat finished seventh.
The race had witnessed, since the first session, Rashid Al Qamzi leading the competition, but the collision of boat 7, led by Matilda Weyberg, with one of the air gates, causing the start and the race to be restarted, and with the restart, the Abu Dhabi boat 35 excelled again in leading the race since the first session, with the Swedish Daniel Segenarc in pursuit. Boat 54, and Al Qamzi had previously achieved the best time in the same round, taking advantage of that by leading the main race from the beginning, and Rashid Al Qamzi succeeded in remaining in the lead throughout the 37 sessions of the race, to finish this round in first place and the lead, and Boat 54 came in second place. 54 by Swedish Daniel Segenmark, and third was the 74 boat led by Giacomo Sacchi from Monaco, while Mansour Al Mansouri in the Abu Dhabi boat 36 came in seventh place during the race. Rashid Al Qamzi finished the race in 30 minutes and 53 seconds, in addition to achieving the best lap in the race on the track, which was 1,600 meters long, in 44.625 seconds.
The Abu Dhabi 35 boat continues to lead the overall standings of the tournament currently with 40 points at the end of the second stage of the competition, and the competition moves to the third round of the tournament in Portugal on the 16th and 17th of this September, while Giacomo Sacchi’s boat comes second in the overall standings with 24 points, which is the closest. The strongest competitor currently to Rashid Al Qamzi.
