Ahmed Al Rumaithi and the great international master Rawda Al Sarkal won the titles of best male and female player in the International Open Chess Championship organized by the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club.
The tournament, which included junior competitions, was held the day before yesterday in Abu Dhabi, coinciding with the 53rd Union Day celebrations, with the participation of 220 male and female players, and the winners were crowned by the club’s board member, Ibrahim Al Marzouqi.
The Ukrainian international master, Adam Tokhayev, topped the open championship, and his compatriot, the great international master, Alexander Zorbayev, came second, and the Georgian international master, Georgi Spashvili, came third, and the Filipino Shiyan Abado was crowned champion of the U-16 junior championship.
Abdullah Al Rumaithi won the title of best player in the junior tournament, and Maryam Al Qubaisi won the best player award in the same category.
