Al-Sharjah qualified for the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League for Clubs “2”, after defeating its host, Al-Wahdat of Jordan, by three goals to one, during the confrontation that brought them together, yesterday, at the Amman International Stadium in the sixth and final round of the group stage.
Sharjah topped the third group with 13 points, while Al-Wehdat, which also secured qualification, remained in second place with 11 points.
Sharjah played a great match throughout the two halves, and translated its advantage in the first half by scoring the lead goal through Caio Lucas (31), but Al-Wahdat equalized the score through Daniel Afana (38) with a header shot, taking advantage of a fatal mistake by goalkeeper Adel Al-Hosani, and Sharjah added two goals in the half. The second was through Luan Pereira in the 47th and 67th minutes.
The match referee canceled a goal by Luan Pereira due to offside.
