Frenchman Jean-David Bogel scored a goal in the first half to lead Al-Wehda, who completed the match with ten players, to a 1-0 victory over Al-Nassr led by Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, and qualified to face Al-Hilal in the King’s Cup final on Monday.
Bujell scored the only goal of the match in the 23rd minute, with a back kick, after a joint error by the defense and goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi.
Al-Wahda was defensive throughout the match and played on counter-attacks, while its Moroccan goalkeeper, Mounir Al-Mohammadi, shone on more than one occasion in front of Al-Nasr attackers.
Ronaldo missed more than one opportunity, the most dangerous of which was a shot that was blocked by the crossbar in the 83rd minute, which would have given his team a draw.
Al-Wehda’s Oscar Duarte also saved a header from the line in stoppage time. Al-Nasr blamed the haste, the absence of effectiveness, and the failure to take advantage of the opponent’s mistakes, to continue the disappointing results, as it occupies second place in the Saudi Professional League, three points behind the leaders Al-Ittihad, but it played one more match.
Al-Wehda will meet in the final with Al-Hilal, who raised its spirits before the AFC Champions League final, when Al-Ittihad captain Ahmed Hegazy scored an own goal to give the visiting team a 1-0 victory after extra time on Sunday.
