Al Wasl reached the semi-finals of the President’s Cup football competition by defeating its host, Bani Yas, with two clean goals, yesterday, at Al Shamkha Stadium, to set a date with Al Ain in the Golden Square.
Al-Wasl deserved to qualify thanks to its positive control over the course of the match, as its attacks were the most dangerous compared to the owners of the land, and it played the match calmly and balanced between defense and attack, which enabled it to avoid the surprise of “Al-Samawi”.
Thomas Shanclay cut the bar for the goals of the match in the 36th minute, after he broke the offside trap and found himself facing goalkeeper Fahd Al-Dhanhani and put the ball easily into the net, giving his team a chance to breathe a little after the great effort made by its players to score the goal.
With the start of the second half, specifically in the 49th minute, the “Emperor” scored the second goal by his player, Felipe Gutierrez, with a creeping ground shot from inside the penalty area, and the team’s performance then shifted to the defensive side clearly, relying on counterattacks, until the referee blew the whistle at the end of the match with victory. Al Wasl with two clean goals and qualified for the semi-finals.
