The coach of the national body for bodybuilding, Zuweid Salmin Al -Zaabi, affirmed that the exercise of bodybuilding sport in the blessed month of Ramadan should be limited to maintaining the physical level and flexibility for athletes, not muscle building, or preparing to participate in competitive tournaments, due to the conditions of fasting and great change in nutrition and sleep during daylight hours.
Al -Zaabi told «Emirates Today»: “It is very important to stay away from hard training, as it will be healthy and physically harmful, whether before or after eating breakfast, and the coaches of bodybuilding in the halls bear the responsibility of providing advice to the players on how to exercise in the blessed month of Ramadan properly, through their presence in gyms to provide advice and respond to sports inquiries.
He added: “The exercise of bodybuilding sport before breakfast is preferable to be simple so that the aim of it is to maintain flexibility and fitness, and for a period not exceeding 30 minutes, and the best types of sports for the fasting person are walking and regular exercises that do not need to bear arduous burdens.”
With regard to nutrition, Al -Zaabi affirmed that in the month of Ramadan, Al -Zaabi emphasized that in the month of Ramadan, there is a nutrition rich in proteins and carbohydrates, so that breakfast is moderate, and it is better that the suhoor meal is essential, stressing that the sport of bodybuilding needs enough sleep and to drink fluids regularly.
Al -Zaabi pointed out that the return to training after the end of Ramadan must be ascending in a way that avoids injuries, and it is necessary not to exaggerate at the time taken to consult the sport.
Al -Zaabi advised not to exercise in the halls individually, and that it is better to practice it with a group of players to provide assistance during the training, and also to exchange information on how to exercise in the holy month properly, as well as the use of the doctor’s opinion for athletes who suffer from chronic diseases.
