Al-Wahda player, Alaa Zuhair, confirmed that Al-Anabi is capable of winning the ADNOC Professional League title, and it does not lack anything to achieve this, as it includes distinguished players who can make a difference at any time.
Alaa Zuhair (23 years old), who holds Emirati citizenship, will be among the options of the national team coach, Portuguese Paulo Bento, starting next January, when he completes five years in the league, especially since Al-Wahda signed him in January 2020, coming from Monastir of Tunisia, He was registered in the resident category, and performed at distinguished levels with the team until he became one of the main pillars of the team.
Alaa Zuhair told “Emirates Today”: “I am satisfied with my level with the team, and whatever the coach’s point of view, whether adopting my position in the heart of defense or as a full-back, I strive to live up to expectations, and give everything I have to serve the team and achieve victory, as for changing position. From one match to another, this is up to the coach and his technical point of view, which I must respect.”
Regarding the fluctuation of the team’s level at times, and what is missing for the “Excellent Owners” to win the league title, he said: “From my point of view, our team is not lacking in anything, and is presenting outstanding levels, and we always try to play the matches with greater focus, and to bear greater responsibility, and with permission.” “May God grant us success during the coming period.”
The player confirmed that Al-Nasr and Al-Wahda teams lost two points as a result of a goalless draw in the seventh round of the league.
Alaa Zuhair added: “We tried to achieve victory over Al-Nasr, but we were unsuccessful. The two teams played a good match, and we know that the road is still long, and we suffered one loss in the league championship, but we are still close to the lead, and the most important thing for us is to always be in the heart of the competition for the title. Which makes us give our best to achieve victories, as seven rounds is certainly not a standard, and the most important thing remains that we are close to the leading team, and, God willing, we will succeed in achieving a positive result in the upcoming matches.”
Al-Wahda occupies third place in the league standings with 14 points, four points behind leaders Al-Sharjah and Shabab Al-Ahly, although the latter has a postponed match with Al-Ain.
Al-Wahda suffered one loss this season, which was against Shabab Al-Ahly with a score of 4-5, and tied in two matches against Baniyas and Al-Nasr, and faces a difficult confrontation in the next round against Al-Wasl 22 this month.
Alaa Zuhair:
Our team is not lacking in anything, and is providing outstanding levels, and we must bear more responsibility.
