Ranchi. In the Jharkhand Tender Commission scam, the state government’s Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam was sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail in Hotwar, Ranchi after being produced in the PMLA court on Thursday. He was arrested by the ED on the evening of 15 May.

Despite being sent to jail, Alamgir Alam continues to hold the ministerial post. Neither has he resigned nor has the Chief Minister removed him from the post. After the arrest, the agency took him on remand and questioned him for a total of 14 days. During this time, he was also brought face to face with IAS Manish Ranjan, who was the secretary in the Rural Development Department, PS Sanjeev Kumar Lal, domestic help Jahangir Alam and many questions related to commission collection were asked. The agency has accused Alamgir Alam of not answering many questions during the interrogation.
The agency has told the court that during the interrogation of Alamgir Alam, many new facts related to the tender commission scam have come to light. An organized gang of engineers, officers and ministers was active in the tender commission scam. As a sample, the ED also presented documents related to the details of 25 tenders worth Rs 92 crore passed in January in the court, in which it is clearly written that Minister Alamgir Alam had taken Rs 1.23 crore as commission in all the said 25 tenders.
Let us tell you that on May 6-7, ED raided the hideouts of Minister Alamgir Alam’s PS Sanjeev Lal and domestic help Jahangir Alam and many others and during this, an amount of more than 37 crores was recovered. After the arrest of Sanjeev Lal and Jahangir, ED sent summons to Alamgir Alam and he was questioned for a total of about 14 hours on May 14-15.
