Important note for people of both Godavari districts. Rajahmundry road cum rail bridge is closing. Collector Madhavilatha said that traffic will be suspended from 27th of this month to 26th October for bridge repairs and road construction. The authorities have been directed to take appropriate action in this regard. He said that no traffic will be allowed on the bridge for a month. Repairs to the damaged secondary joints including the central carriageway, viaduct portion and approaches are going to be undertaken at a cost of Rs 2.10 crore this time. Removal of BT surface has already been done with milling machine. It is stated that the concerned officials have been instructed to inform the various educational institutions of the district in advance about the closure of the bridge. Traffic on the road cum rail bridge is completely stopped on the RCRB. RCRB is the main entrance to reach Rajamahendravaram from Kovvur side. However, for some time now, traffic has been completely stopped due to frequent repairs. A large number of people regularly come from Kovvur side to Rajamahendravaram for various works. This is the closest way for students to come to colleges. If RCRB is closed, the all-rounder will have to return via Vijjeswaram, Dhavaleswaram.. or through Gammon Bridge on this side. Also RTC buses are likely to ply over Gammon Bridge. The concerned officials were directed to inform the various educational institutions of the district about the closure of the bridge. Travels on the bridge have been stopped several times since the last Pushkaras due to repairs and emergency works. It is known that express buses and heavy vehicles will not be allowed from July 23. With the recent ban on travel once again, the passengers are not going to be spared.
