Sharjah: Sharjah Police with effective measures to prevent thefts. Sharjah Police has put in place effective measures to prevent thefts from under construction buildings and closed houses. Sharjah Police stated that if the residents who go out after locking their houses for several days report that information to the police, there will be special surveillance by the police in such places, and instructions are given to the concerned to secure the premises by installing solar cameras in the places where construction is going on.
The perpetrators of such crimes often plan the theft after observing the premises for several days. If people are seen in suspicious circumstances in isolated places and residential areas, the information should be reported to the police. Once the information is received, the patrol vehicles can reach the place within minutes and carry out detailed inspections. The police stated that even in places where only government institutions are located, such theft attempts are made, but due to the strict surveillance of the police, they were able to arrest those involved in the crime.
The operations department of Sharjah Police has managed to achieve an emergency response rate of 4.58. The rate indicates a decrease of about 15 percent compared to previous years, police said. Fraud on social media is the biggest challenge in recent times. But the police also informed that the officers who are experts in the cyber field have intensified round-the-clock surveillance. The police have received many complaints of financial transactions following messages received on mobile phones and later lost money, and before making transactions in suspicious messages, the police asked the public to ensure that the transaction is done legally by talking to the concerned person directly.
The head of the department also said that the police have managed to arrest a large fraud group in the investigation conducted by focusing on some phone calls, and that it is a great achievement of the Sharjah Police that they were able to find and arrest the entire group before more people were victims of fraud. The police also warns that OTP pin numbers should not be handed over to anyone when asked over the phone.
