But there is something special about this Ramadolu festival. The highlight of this festival is the swinging of children in drum-shaped swings about sixty feet high. The specialty of this festival is that four little girls dressed as Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughnu risk their lives and swing the swing at such a height.
This Ramadolu festival is celebrated every five years by the locals on Dantulamma Hill at Tajangi. Even children swinging in cradles are not randomly selected during Ramadolu festival. Four girls aged 11 years are selected first. After that, these four will continue fasting for a week. Later, on the Ramadolu festival, they are all decorated as Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughnu and brought in a procession to Dantulamma hill. Then they are placed in a cradle arranged in the shape of a drum and swing. The people of that area are still continuing this tradition from their ancestors.
