Meanwhile, crude oil futures contracts closed with a two percent gain in Friday’s trade. Crude oil was boosted by the release of an economic data that indicated an increase in demand in the United States. Brent crude futures were up $1.79, or 2.4 percent, at $75.84 a barrel, while the U.S. WTI futures contract was up $1.89, or 2.7 percent, at $71.23.
Gains in Friday’s trade helped crude oil futures contracts pare losses for the week. Crude oil prices are currently near six-month lows. Crude oil prices are negatively influenced by investors’ perception that supply is reaching the market in excess of demand.
