These 200 women entrepreneurs work in product categories such as apparel, cosmetics, jewellery, spices, hygiene products, handicrafts, home decor, office products. And there are those who run businesses like Kidsy Vinci, Vishala Naturals, Gems and Jewels, Bunko Junko.
Over the next 24 months, these entrepreneurs will be inducted into the Global Selling Program and given skill development workshops on the nuances of e-commerce exporting and training on product listing, pricing, global logistics, how to manage overhead costs to help set up and grow their e-commerce export business, Amazon India said.
E-commerce is rapidly opening export opportunities to lakhs of Indian entrepreneurs. Amazon India is committed to enable $20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by 2025. Amazon India’s main focus is to continue to make exporting easier and more accessible for businesses across all segments, said Bhupen Wakankar, Global Trade Director, Amazon India.
Amazon Global Selling was launched in India in 2015 to help Indian exporters sell online to Amazon’s international websites and marketplaces. Currently, more than one lakh exporters from India are covered under this programme. Amazon India said the program is witnessing remarkable growth and Indian MSMEs exporting through the program have so far generated cumulative sales of $5 billion.

Till August 2022, MSMEs will account for 42.67 per cent of India’s total exports, said Minister of State for MSME Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. India’s total exports (combined of goods and services) during April-August 2022 are estimated at $311.82 billion. There has been a 19.72 percent increase in exports compared to the same period last year. India’s total exports in the current financial year up to January stood at $641 billion.
