Amendment To Law On Warrant In Financial Cases In Dubai; About A Thousand People, Including The Malayalis, Will Be Released

Dubai: An important amendment in Dubai emirates to the law of arrest warrant in civil cases related to financial transaction. The Court of Cassation, the highest court in Dubai, has ruled that the court can issue an arrest warrant only if the debtor proves that the debtor has the money in hand and does not pay.

In the context of the new order, about a thousand people who are in jail in similar cases will be released. Among them are many Indians including Malayalis. The media reported that after the Supreme Court verdict, the prisoners started to be released.

If the creditor in a civil case fails to repay the money, the maximum jail term is 36 months. This amendment will provide relief to those who have been jailed for petty financial disputes.

It does not apply in criminal cases involving financial matter. The judgment came from the court of cassation regarding the issuance of warrant of arrest in a civil case. Jurisdiction applies only to the jurisdiction of Dubai.
