Mumbai: Senior Nationalist Congress leader Ajit Pawar has said that the news that he will join the BJP team with his supporting MLAs is not true.
Ajit Pawar is the nephew of Nationalist Congress President Sharad Pawar. A senior leader of the party, he was also the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. In this case, it was reported that Ajit Pawar held a private meeting with 40 of his supporting MLAs on Tuesday last week and that he is planning to join the BJP team. This caused a stir in Maharashtra politics.
In this case, Ajit Pawar, who spoke to reporters in Mumbai about this issue, said, “Rumours are being spread without any reason. I did not consult MLAs alone. I didn’t even get signatures from 40 MLAs. MLAs meet me regularly. It should not be taught any other meaning. I belong to the Nationalist Congress. I will continue to be here. All I want to say to the party is, don’t worry. It is time for the Nationalist Congress Party to become the ruling party or opposition party in Maharashtra,” he said.
Earlier, reporters questioned Sarath Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule whether Ajit Pawar is going to join the BJP. He replied, “Why are you asking me this? Why don’t you ask him himself? I don’t know about that. As a person involved in public philanthropy, I have a lot of work to do. It is noteworthy that he said, “I don’t have time to answer rumours.”
