Yesterday, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, officially announced the launch of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup Championship, amid a large crowd estimated at 60,000 spectators, at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, in a dazzling sporting and heritage celebration.
The opening ceremony caught the attention of Gulf football fans with light displays that combined artistic and cultural performances, serving as the gateway to exciting competitions that brought together the eight Gulf teams: the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Yemen, and Oman, in addition to the host Kuwait.
Arab and Gulf culture dominated the opening ceremony, which was full of music, special effects and innovative choreography, highlighting the cultural identity of the State of Kuwait and the Gulf in general.
On the other hand, a video recording was shown telling the history of the tournament since its first edition, highlighting the most prominent moments, in addition to displaying a future vision for Kuwait, as part of its strategy to host major sporting events, while fireworks lit up the atmosphere surrounding the stadium, announcing the start of the tournament.
Kuwait will host the Gulf Cup for the fifth time in its history, as the eight participating teams mobilized their forces to compete with complete rosters and first-class stars, which heralds the restoration of the regional championship to its previous luster, as the return of the tournament to Kuwait is considered a return to the roots, after Kuwait witnessed the launch of this tournament decades ago. Its stadiums witnessed the greatest moments in its history.
Kuwaiti fans hope that this hosting will serve as a new starting point for Kuwaiti football towards competing for continental and international titles.
