Andrés Hurtado could be sentenced to 29 years in prison
Andrés Hurtado faces serious accusations that could cost him up to 29 years in prison . According to lawyer Andy Carrión, if it is proven that ‘Chibolín’ was involved in influence peddling and bribery, he could receive a sentence of 14 years, but if the crime of money laundering is added, the sentence could increase to 29 years. The accusations arose after the complaint of Ana Siucho, who stated that Hurtado received a million-dollar bribe to manage the return of 100 kilos of gold seized from Javier Miu Lei, cousin of the Siucho brothers.
“If the accusations are confirmed, Hurtado would have committed two main crimes: influence peddling and bribery. The first punishes those who use their power, real or simulated, to obtain personal benefits or for third parties. Bribery, or kickback, would involve giving money to public officials for favors,” the lawyer stated.
Carrión explained that these crimes are classified with severe penalties in the Peruvian Penal Code, especially money laundering, which carries a sentence of up to 15 years. This case has caused great commotion in public opinion and has called into question the career of the well-known television presenter.
