Television presenter Andrés Hurtado was arrested on September 19 by the Division for the Investigation of Highly Complex Crimes (Diviac ). The intervention took place while the former television host was hospitalized at the Novo Q Clinic, recovering from a recent operation. The arrest occurred in the context of investigations into alleged crimes of money laundering, influence peddling and bribery in which he is believed to be involved.
What happened to Andrés Hurtado at the time of his arrest?
Hours after his arrest, exclusive images of the moment of the intervention were released. However, what attracted the most attention was Andrés Hurtado’s behavior during the operation. In an attempt to show that he was unable to move, the driver, popularly known as Chibolin tried to show his private parts to the prosecutors present.
According to reports, after being informed of his rights, Andrés Hurtado expressed concern about the fate of the videos recorded during his detention. Faced with this concern, the senior prosecutor in charge of the operation explained that the recordings were part of the official proceedings of the investigation. “If we want to carry out the arrest here, in the clinic room, it has to be recorded with photographs in the report and in the file of how the intervention was carried out, if he stays here, or if we transfer him,” explained the prosecutor.
It was then that, upon hearing that he might be transferred, Hurtado insisted that he could not move due to his recent operation. In an attempt to justify his inability to move, he suggested lowering his pants to prove it. “I can’t move… so do one thing, turn off the camera, and I’m going to lower my pants to prove it…”, said the driver. The prosecutor immediately rejected this request, clarifying that she did not want to violate his privacy. “I don’t want your privacy affected. All I want is for it to be recorded that you were in a bed,” she added.
What surgery did Andrés Hurtado undergo?
Andrés Hurtado underwent circumcision surgery days before his arrest. According to his lawyer, Julio Rodriguez the operation did not go as expected, as the presenter had to undergo three additional surgical procedures due to complications in his recovery. “Initially, it was a circumcision, but complications subsequently arose. Once a person is subject to a measure of this type (detention), whoever has ordered the measure and whoever executes it is responsible for what happens to the person,” explained Rodríguez.
