The well-known comedian and television host Andrés Hurtado is at the center of a controversy that has shaken the media. Following statements by Ana Siucho, who denounced possible influences by Hurtado in state entities, an investigation has been opened for money laundering and bribery. The accusations have led to the suspension of his Saturday program on Panamericana, indefinitely keeping him away from the small screen.
The entertainment program “Todo se filtra” fueled the controversy by broadcasting previously unpublished images of Hurtado’s last show, which show an unusually reserved behavior of the comedian. In the recordings, he appears dressed in an elegant white suit, silently observing the stage and repeatedly touching his face, reflecting anguish. During the commercial breaks, Hurtado’s usual energy seemed to have vanished, being replaced by obvious concern.
Kurt Villavicencio, a journalist from the entertainment media, was one of the first to comment on the episode of last Saturday, September 6. According to Villavicencio, Hurtado faced the accusations of receiving illicit money and doing questionable favors with a defiant attitude, but also announced his temporary retirement from television, stating that it would only be for “a few Saturdays.” However, a statement issued by Panamericana contradicted this version, confirming that the suspension would be for an indefinite period.
Andrés Hurtado and his peculiar attitude
Villavicencio also revealed that the images showing Hurtado during commercial breaks were provided by an anonymous source. “I was intrigued to see how Andrés was feeling at that time after the accusations against him,” said the journalist, alluding to the notable difference between the charisma the presenter displays on screen and the tension he showed off camera.
While the investigation continues, Andrés Hurtado’s media future seems to be on hold, as is his career, now marked by scandal. The authorities have begun their investigation and are expected to have more witnesses in the case.
