According to Villavicencio, Hurtado faced the accusations of receiving illicit money and doing questionable favors with a defiant attitude, but also announced his temporary retirement from television, stating that it would only be for “a few Saturdays.” However, a statement issued by Panamericana contradicted this version, confirming that the suspension would be for an indefinite period.

Host Andrés Hurtado surprised the public by announcing his temporary retirement from the program ‘Saturday with Andrés’ during the August 7 broadcast. During his live message, he explained that he would be absent for a few days to attend to personal and legal matters.
“I’m going to be away for two or three Saturdays. I need time to deal with the issues at hand,” said Hurtado. He also thanked Panamericana Televisión for allowing him this break.
