New Delhi: Retired Lt. Gen. Anil Chauhan has been appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of the Triforce. He will also serve as Secretary for Military Affairs, the Ministry of Defense said.
The post of Commander-in-Chief of the Tri-Army was created to enable the tri-armies of the Indian Army to work together.
General Bipin Rawat assumed office as the country’s first tri-army chief on January 1, 2020. Bipin Rawat died in a helicopter accident near Coonoor in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu on December 15 last year.
Since then no one has been appointed to this post. General Manoj Mukund Naravane, who was appointed as the Chairman of the Tri-Army Command, was looking after this responsibility.
In this case, the Central Government has appointed retired Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan as the new Chief of Army Staff. He will also serve as Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs, the Ministry of Defense said.
Anil Chauhan, who has served in the Indian Army for 40 years, has headed various units of Ranu Vat. Anil Chauhan, who joined the Gorkha Rifles in 1981, trained at the National Defense Academy and the Indian Army Academy.
He served as the Eastern Zone Army Commander from 2019 to his retirement on May 31, 2021. He has received the Param Visisht Seva, Uttam Youth Seva, Ati Visisht Seva, Sena and Visisht Seva medals for his service in the Army.
