siwanThe series of bridge collapses in Bihar continues. Meanwhile, a pillar of the bridge built on the Gandak Canal in Siwan, Bihar fell into the river, due to which one end of the bridge got submerged in the river. This bridge is located on the border of Deoria and Bhikha Bandh village under Daraunda block.
The people of the nearby villages had protested on June 22 regarding the dilapidated condition of the bridge, after which the authorities had also got it repaired. Despite this, a pillar of the bridge fell into the river at around 5 am on Wednesday. Taking the matter seriously after the protest on June 22, the district administration had the road construction department survey all the bridges. This bridge is located at a distance of just 4 kilometers from Garauli.

However, the villagers say that due to heavy rains the previous day, the water level rose and the bridge collapsed due to the strong current (Bihar Bridge Collapse). The villagers allege that the administration had got the canal cleaned. During this, the soil was excavated from the banks of the canal with the help of JCB without paying attention to the standards. Due to which the soil also came out from the sides of the pillars.
Due to the collapse of this bridge, people of more than a dozen villages have lost contact with Maharajganj headquarters. Local people allege that they had informed the administration several times about the dilapidated condition of the bridge, but no action was taken on it. When the administration woke up after the protest on June 22, the bridge had collapsed. People say that despite the complaint, the administration did not pay any attention to it.
