This year’s Palestine Solidarity Day comes in the midst of a turbulent war. International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is observed on November 29 every year. The United Nations started this day in 1977 in solidarity with the Palestinian people. In 1947, the United Nations passed ‘Resolution 181’ on November 29. Remembrance of this day is behind the observance of Palestine Solidarity Day on the same day. Palestine was divided into Arab-Jewish states after this resolution was passed.
Special programs are organized on this day in the UN offices in New York, Geneva, Vienna and Nairobi.
Every year on this day, the United Nations issues a statement for the sovereignty of Palestine. There may be such statements this time too. 760,000 Palestinians have become refugees since 1948. It is the demand of the United Nations that a political situation should emerge that can bring them back to their country.
