✦ Height of PSLV-C54 carrier is 44.4 meters.
✦ PSLV C-54’s main payload is ‘OceanSat’. It is called Earth Observation Satellite-6. ISRO has undertaken this experiment with the main intention of launching it into orbit.
✦ Observing Earth’s atmosphere through Oceansat satellites. These satellites are used to detect storms, estimate moisture in the atmosphere, and study the weather over oceans.
✦ Recently launched EOS-3 will be linked to ISRO’s earlier launched Oceansat-2. This satellite will enable scientists to study the oceans in greater depth without any disruption to the ongoing studies.
✦ ‘Hyperspectral imaging satellite’ can be used to detect underground oil reserves, methane leaks and crop pests.
✦ Out of 9 satellites, one Oceansat satellite weighs 1,117 kg. Along with this, the total weight of all other nano satellites is 321 tons.
✦ This is the 24th launch of the PSLV-XL version.
✦ Bhutansat from Bhutan, Anand from Bangalore Pixel Company and 4 other satellites belonging to the ‘Spaceflight’ company operating worldwide with its headquarters in Seattle were sent to Ningi by the ISRO scientists through this PSLV-C54 carrier.
