In this order, the sales of liquor in AP has doubled. As it is a festival, drug addicts are excited to inject drugs. There is a huge queue near liquor shops. Due to this there will be heavy traffic at the liquor shops. Excise Department statistics show that Rs.214 crore worth of liquor was sold in the last three days alone. Officials say that more than 2.33 lakh cases of liquor and more than 83 thousand cases of beer have been sold.
If we look district-wise… the highest amount of liquor was sold in West Godavari district of Rs.27.81 crores. After that there are joint East Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts. On the occasion of New Year, liquor sales of Rs.127 crores were done in AP on December 31. Now, on the occasion of Sankranthi, liquor sales were at a record level in the last three days. It seems that there is a possibility of increasing the sale of alcohol on the occasion of Kanuma today.
Liquor bottles are being transported directly to the weight of chicken races. Officials say that with a large number of people coming from other states to watch Sankranti festival and chicken races in AP, liquor sales in the state have increased to a record level. It is said that due to this, huge amount of income is coming to the government exchequer during the festival. However, it seems that the government has extended the opening hours of liquor shops by an hour during the festival. They used to close at 9 o’clock on other days. But on the occasion of the festival, there are reports that an hour has been extended till the 16th. To this extent, the Excise Department has issued orders through teleconference. With this, there are chances of further increase in liquor sales in AP.
