San Francisco. Apple is looking to launch a high-end iPhone ‘Ultra’ above its Pro and Pro Max models, which could arrive alongside the iPhone 16 lineup by 2024. According to Apple tracker Mark Gurman, the tech giant’s plan to separate Pro and Pro Max has fueled speculation of launching a high-end brand – Ultra.
During Apple’s earnings call last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook did not rule out the possibility of future iPhone price hikes.
Instead, he suggested that customers may be willing to pay more for a higher quality product.
“The iPhone has become an integral part of people’s lives,” Cook was quoted as saying.
“I think people are really set out to get the best in the range they can afford,” he said.
Beyond that, Gurman said it’s unclear how the top-of-the-line model will differ, but it will likely include additional camera improvements, a faster chip, and possibly a larger display.
He added that there could be more features in the future, such as the omission of the charging port at the end.
Meanwhile, Apple will reportedly launch a new ‘Apple Watch Ultra’ with a larger 2.1-inch display next year.
The new wearable is also expected to be the first Apple Watch with a case size over 50mm.
The new Ultra is also likely to feature MicroLED display technology, which will offer higher brightness, lower power consumption and better contrast ratio than the current model with OLED display.(IANS)
