- Apple removes Quran from Play Store

Quran Majeed, the Apple App Store app, is widely used in various parts of the world. The app also has over 150,000 Quran reviews. It was used by millions of Muslims around the world.
The Chinese government argues that it should not promote illegal religious texts and beliefs. At the same time, another paradox is that China has officially recognized Islam. There are also reports of Muslims being subjected to human rights abuses and atrocities in Shijinping province.
Apple Censorship was first noticed by Cupertino, a company that monitors applications in Apple’s App Store around the world. Quran Majeed App is developed by Pakistan Data Management Services. PDMS clarified that the app was removed from the China Store because it contained content that required special permission and documentation from the Chinese authorities.

Company officials have been in touch with Chinese cyberspace administration and related Chinese authorities to resolve the issue. The app has about 10 lakh downloads in China. The app is used by 2.5 crore people worldwide. Apple’s response is that the move is part of its compliance with local laws, despite its opposition to government policy. Company officials said they would try to find a solution to the problem.
Most of Apple’s revenue comes from China. One-fifth of Apple’s revenue comes from China. The company’s product distribution networks are also heavily dependent on China, and most of the products are manufactured in China. Therefore, Apple does not oppose government interventions regarding the ban.
