New Delhi | Apple sold 2 million iPhones in India in the 2022 holiday quarter (Q4), registering an 18 percent growth (quarter-on-quarter) for its flagship device. This information has been given in the new data on Monday. India market share of iPhones for 2022 to reach 5.5 percent with 11 percent growth (year-on-year).
For 2021, Apple iPhones had registered 48 percent year-on-year growth with 4.4 percent market share in the country.
According to the latest CMR data, the iPhone 14 series registered 59 percent market share in the fourth quarter of 2022, followed by the iPhone 13 series at 32 percent.
Apple sold 0.2 million iPads in India in the fourth quarter, and the iPad Pro 2022 series registered a growth of 30 percent.
Currently, Apple has around 5 per cent share of the total smartphone market in the country.
The iPhone maker is now seriously looking at India and Vietnam to strengthen its supply chain in the next 2-3 years.
According to Kuo, Apple aims to ship 40-45 percent of iPhones from India, compared to the single-digit percentage currently.
According to JP Morgan, by 2025 every fourth iPhone will be made in India.
India is expected to account for 10-15 per cent of the total iPhone production capacity by the end of 2022.
Apple, which currently manufactures the iPhone 12, 13, 14 and 14 Plus in the country, has become the first smartphone company in India to export iPhones worth $1 billion in the month of December.(IANS)
