San Francisco. Tech giant Apple is reportedly planning to form a team for its electric car project (Project Titan) before the end of the year.
On the microblogging site, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote, “Apple is building a new team to accelerate a project that has been dormant during the COVID pandemic.”
As reported by ArenaV, Apple went through several phases of its rumored car project, but never actually confirmed or denied its existence.
The report says that industry analysts have been predicting the Apple Car for years, which started as a simple city car and is now looking more towards becoming a fully autonomous vehicle, requiring no more than the driver. Input will not be required.
Project Titan began in 2014, when Apple formed a so-called shell company (Sixteat Research) to work on the car project.
Project involves multiple changes, teams moving away, project direction completely changed, sudden changes in management.
Bob Mansfield, who was VP of Technologies at Apple, is currently leading the project.
With all the restrictions and broader industry shocks slowly easing, it looks like Apple is looking to get back on track with the Titan project, the report said.
It added that two years were wasted and it would take longer to make up the lost work.
