Officials say that more people travel in RTC buses as special buses run at normal fare without extra charge. Moreover, during Sankranthi, RTC Cargo also earned a record Rs.55 lakhs in a single day. Earlier it was Rs. 45 lakhs.. that record has also been broken. RTC MD Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said that this is an example that passengers will appreciate if special buses run with regular fares. Passengers have chosen APS RTC buses to reduce their travel expenses this Sankranti.
He said that along with making buses available in advance for the passengers, all the necessary infrastructures for the operation have been provided and managed efficiently. He said that the RTC’s record level of income was due to the provision of buses to suit the passenger traffic. More importantly, the income came as a result of the dedication and hard work of the drivers and conductors.
On behalf of RTC, he expressed his special thanks to all the passengers who supported them and believed that they would show the same kind of support to RTC in the coming days as well. MD Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said that they have focused on increasing RTC income by providing better facilities to passengers. RTC sites across the state are being identified and protected and given on long-term lease.
On the other hand RTC got huge income during Sankranti. The company said in a statement that the total income was Rs.141 crore. He said that the revenue came from running 3,392 special buses to different areas. Compared to last year, 992 additional services were run and the income increased by Rs.34 crores. In addition to announcing the discount, normal charges have been taken for special services as well. However, he said that the revenue was huge.
