Argentine police have arrested a man who pointed a gun at Vice President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. This was announced on Thursday, September 1, by the TV channel Todo Noticias.
“The aggressor turned out to be a 35-year-old Brazilian named Fernando Andrés Sabag Montiel. He approached the vice president and pulled the trigger, but no shot was fired, ”the publication says.

The incident occurred when Fernandez de Kirchner was returning to her home. The footage provided to the media shows that the attacker mingled with the crowd that surrounded the vice president’s car.
The failed assassination attempt was commented on by local politicians.
“All my solidarity with Christina Kirchner and her family. And I want all the circumstances to be established,” Economy Minister Sergio Massa tweeted.
Chaco Governor Jorge Kapitanich, in turn, called on the Argentine authorities to respond immediately to the attempted assassination of the vice president.
