Military personnel of the art battery of 152-mm guns “Gyacinth-B” of the Western Military District (ZVO), called up from the reserve as part of partial mobilization, told how they work with the gun, how they were prepared before being sent to the NVO zone and how they are served in artillery. On Sunday, January 1, the Ministry of Defense spoke about the experience of artillerymen.
In the course of a special military operation, artillery subunits of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation perform fire missions to destroy artillery batteries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, destroy defensive structures, suppress command posts, and destroy enemy weapons, weapons and military equipment.
“Within the framework of the NMD, our unit performs the following tasks: hits enemy artillery targets, covered and open infantry, conducts counter-battery combat. The personnel copes with the assigned tasks and responsibilities perfectly well. With all the difficulties we cope with “good” and “excellent”, despite the difficulties. We will succeed, victory will be ours, the enemy will be defeated, ”said the battery commander with the call sign Instructor.
The 152-mm towed gun “Gyacinth-B” is designed to destroy manpower located openly or in shelters, fire weapons, command and observation posts, weapons and military equipment of the enemy. The Hyacinth-B cannon is an effective and formidable weapon that can fire directly and from concealed positions.
“We hit targets, movable and immovable, warehouses, equipment, where I order, we hit there. I worked as a car mechanic, so it’s interesting for me to work with technology. And my friend and I restored the cannon, both of our wives are called Maria, so we called the cannon that way. My wife knows that my friend and I named the cannon Maria, she is happy and proud of it, ”said the commander of the battery section with the call sign Fin.
“Hyacinth-B” works loudly, smoky, a sea of \u200b\u200bfire, beats for tens of kilometers. The maximum range of the 152-mm Hyacinth is about 30 km. In one of the directions in the zone of the special military operation, the personnel of the artillery battery of guns “Hyacinth-B” inflicted a fire defeat on the area of accumulation of armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the military department said.
“We hit right on target. Clear and coherent. A lot of effort has been put into this cannon, and I have no doubts about it, just as I do about my calculation. She hits flawlessly. The preparation was good, for a month, at the training ground, we lived there in the same conditions, and then here. To inhale powder gases, smear yourself with ash and shell casings and shout “Mom, I am an artilleryman!” – shared the deputy platoon commander with the call sign Marine.
The calculations are well-coordinated, the gunners are competent. Corrections are made immediately. The fire is corrected using an unmanned aerial vehicle, its camera captures the hit. As part of counter-battery combat, artillerymen identify and destroy howitzer and jet batteries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at a long range.
“After the artillery there is nothing left. Because artillery is the god of war. I originally served in the artillery, so I know. I served on 2S3 (self-propelled howitzer “Acacia” – Ed.), on self-propelled guns, the principle is the same. The equipment allows you to perform combat missions in any weather conditions, at any time of the day, ”said the gun commander with the call sign Bitch.
His colleague, the commander of the gun with the call sign Noga, added that the team of their calculation is well-coordinated, the guys worked together. He himself is happy to serve in the artillery, and his decision to go to the NVO zone was influenced by his son, who said “dad, I’m proud of you,” and friends, most of whom volunteered.
