New Delhi. The Delhi High Court on Wednesday listed the ED’s petition in the money laundering case related to the Excise Policy 2021-22 scam for July 15. The ED has challenged the bail granted to Kejriwal by the trial court. The High Court had earlier stayed the trial court’s June 20 order granting him bail.
High Court Justice Nina Bansal Krishna today deferred the hearing of the case as Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju said that Kejriwal’s reply to the ED’s petition was given to him late last night and the agency needs time to file a counter affidavit on it. Raju said that the reply copy was given to him at 11 pm on Tuesday night and he does not have time to prepare and file a counter affidavit.

Senior advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Kejriwal, challenged the ED’s claim. Singhvi said that the reply copy was sent to the investigating office (IO) at 1 pm on Tuesday. Singhvi said that there is a lot of urgency in the case as the High Court has stayed the bail granted to Kejriwal. Talking about the case in the court, Singhvi said that a separate time should be set for the hearing as it is very urgent.
Kejriwal’s lawyer opposed the ED lawyer’s argument and said that ED wants to prolong the case. Therefore, it is requested that the case be heard during the day itself. However, the court said that there is no dispute that the reply copy was given to ED on Tuesday and the agency is entitled to file a reply on it. The court gave time to ED to file its reply and fixed the hearing of the case on July 15.
