Two people were injured in the shelling of the northern part of Israel from Lebanon. This was reported on April 6 by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.
According to the newspaper, all the victims received minor shrapnel wounds. They were given medical assistance, there is no threat to life.
Later, the Israeli Ambulance Service (MDA) reported on its Telegram channel that the number of victims had increased to three. According to the agency, a man and a woman were injured by shrapnel on the way to the bomb shelter, and another woman is in a state of shock after a panic attack.
The alarm went off in two locations in northern Israel earlier in the day. Sirens worked in the settlements of Shlomi and Bezet. A missile launch from Lebanese territory to Israel was also recorded, which was reflected by the anti-missile defense system (ABM).
Local authorities urged people to leave the streets and go down to bomb shelters. Videos of eyewitnesses have been posted on social media showing several plumes of smoke rising from rockets.
In connection with the incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an operational meeting with the heads of law enforcement agencies.
In response to the missile launch from Lebanese territory, Israel fired on the southern regions of the country. According to Lebanese MP Qasem Hashem, the Israeli side fired 90 rockets, which is a disproportionate response.
In October 2022, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid signed an agreement to demarcate the maritime border with Lebanon. Then the head of the country’s government said that this is a historic achievement that will strengthen Israel’s security and bring billions to its economy.
The question of demarcation arose sharply after the discovery of large reserves of oil and gas in the disputed area. Lebanon and Israel have been in conflict since the Arab-Israeli clashes of 1948-1949.
