The prize scheme is being implemented under the name ‘Mera Bil Mera Adhikar’. The scheme will be implemented in six states and Union Territories from September 1. A statement issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) stated that the bill gift scheme will be implemented in the states like Assam, Gujarat, Haryana and the union territories of Puducherry, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli in the first phase.
How to win the prize?
Customers holding bills issued by suppliers registered under the GST tax department can be part of the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ gift scheme. There will be monthly and quarterly draws. The lucky winners can win between Rs 10,000 and Rs 1 crore. Meanwhile, the persons who have at least a purchase bill of Rs.200 will be eligible to participate in the draw. A maximum of 25 bills per month can be applied to be part of the gift scheme.
How to participate?
To participate in the draw, the bill has to be uploaded through the mobile app. For this ‘Mera Bil Mera Adhikar’ (Mera Bill Mera Adhikar) mobile application is made available on Android/ iOS platforms. The bill uploaded to the app should contain the customer’s GSTIN, invoice number, bill amount and tax amount.
The tax department has launched the gift scheme as part of its effort to curb GST evasion and to create awareness among consumers to purchase the original bill while purchasing goods and services.
