Guwahati: Seven engineering students died on the spot in a road accident in Assam capital Guwahati this morning. This incident has caused grief in the area.
Assam Engineering College is located in Guwahati, Assam. Ten students studying in this college took a seven seater car and left the college this morning.
Their car, which was speeding on Guwahati’s highway, lost control and crashed into the barricade in the middle of the road. Then it swerved to the other side of the road and hit an oncoming cargo van.
The seven students inside the car died on the spot in the accident. Three other students who were struggling with critical injuries were rescued by bystanders and rushed to Guwahati Medical College Hospital. They are receiving intensive care there.
The Guwahati police reached the spot and recovered the body of the dead student and sent it for postmortem. The police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sharma condoled the accident on his Twitter page.
