The Board of Directors of the Athletics Federation, during its periodic meeting, headed by Major General Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr, approved the time plan for the national teams and qualifying the players, in preparation for the upcoming foreign benefits, with a focus on the age stages, to prepare a base of players with high levels.
Al-Murr stressed that the federation aims to develop the competitiveness of the various national teams, through participation in regional and international forums, enhancing women’s participation, and cooperating with international federations by signing agreements and protocols.
He explained that the last season witnessed the achievement of many goals set within the agenda, the most important of which is building a solid base of elements capable of competing in foreign tournaments.
He said that the federation organized various tournaments across the country, in cooperation with strategic partners and clubs, that had a tangible impact on the national team, and put in its plan for the current season to host international tournaments, such as the international championship in Dubai, the “Asia Half Marathon”, and the organization of the international meeting. The first of its kind for best practices in athletics, in addition to the UAE winning the hosting of the “Asia Youth Championship 2024”, in addition to organizing external camps.
Al-Murr pointed out that the presence of Emirati competencies in the Arab, continental and international federations contributes to strengthening the country’s position externally, especially after the UAE won membership in the AFC Board of Directors for the 2023-2027 electoral cycle.
He added, “We are keen to develop programs for making champions, attracting talents, designing training programs with international standards, and establishing training centers for athletics.”
