New DelhiAAP leader Atishi, who was on an indefinite hunger strike over the ongoing water crisis in Delhi, became seriously ill late at night. She was admitted to LNJP hospital at around 4 am. According to doctors, Atishi’s blood sugar level dropped to 43 at midnight and 36 at 3 am.
After this, the doctors advised to admit her to the hospital immediately. Atishi is on an indefinite hunger strike demanding the release of Delhi’s share of water from Haryana. On Monday, the fourth day of the hunger strike, LNJP doctors examined Atishi’s health. Seeing the deterioration in her health, the doctors also advised to admit her to the hospital.
At that time Atishi had said that providing water to the people of Delhi is more important than my life. Her hunger strike will continue until the people of Delhi get their share of water. Delhi’s Water Minister Atishi has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 21 so that 28 lakh people of Delhi can get their share of water from Haryana. On the fourth day of the hunger strike on Monday, a team of doctors from Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Hospital examined her health.
Doctors have recorded a major drop in Atishi’s blood pressure and sugar levels. Atishi has also lost weight. The speed at which Atishi’s blood sugar level, blood pressure and weight have decreased has been termed dangerous by doctors. The level of ketones in Atishi’s urine is also increasing. This increase in the amount of ketones in her body can be dangerous for her health.
