The suspects tried to smuggle a Range Rover car worth AED 6,85,000 abroad. Defendants allegedly rented a car for two days. Later, the car rental company found out that the car had not arrived even on the due date and tried to find out the whereabouts of the car using the vehicle’s tracking system. But the tracking device had been moved by the defendants. The test was then performed using a second tracking device used in the vehicle. That’s when the rental company’s employees found out that the vehicle was in another emirate.

The employees of the rental company then informed the police. When police arrived following the location of the vehicle, they were loaded into a truck and taken to a neighboring country. Police stopped the truck and arrested the driver. The truck driver told police that someone from another country had contacted him and asked him to bring the vehicle. The truck driver told police he was sent 2,500 dirhams and the location of the parking lot.

The police investigation revealed that the person who rented the car was planning to smuggle him abroad with his helpers after leaving the country. The group had forged all the documents of the Road Transport Authority to transport the vehicle. A second tracking device attached to the car helped apprehend the culprits.
