WhatsApp is one of the most used platforms in the world, and for this reason it is normal for cybercriminals to want to take advantage of its popularity. In recent days, the existence of a “bomb message” has been discovered that is blocking the app on Android phones.
A “message bomb” refers to a chain of messages that contains malicious code and when the user clicks on the link access to the application in question is blocked. These types of messages are not new to the application, and several campaigns of this type have been launched over the years, luckily it is not a typical cyberattack, but rather a nuisance that you can save yourself.
And it is that if you make the mistake of opening the message, your WhatsApp will stop responding, it will overheat, operation slows down and finally You will lose access to your WhatsApp account.
This is the new “bomb message”
You may remember that a few years ago another bomb message appeared that consisted of a new circle on WhatsApp, which drove your smartphone crazy, now this bomb consists of the link wa.me/channel. Luckily, as it is a link, you must click on it for the problems to occur so if you open the chat and read it, in principle nothing should happen.
What happens with this message is that the app itself is not ready to process the file it opens, hence goes into error loop and it does not end until the mobile itself closes the process. Because it goes into a loop, the app starts to work slower, although this can even extend to the smartphone in general, leading to overheating of the device.
What can be done to avoid it?
The best we can do, as with any other message or link that we find suspicious in any application or platform, is to ignore and delete it from our device. As we have already said, nothing happens to have the message there, what you don’t have to do is open it.
In the event that you have not been able to fight curiosity or without knowing what it was, you have opened the link and your mobile has gone crazy, calm down, there is a solution. In fact, you have two options, the first is force close whatsappeither by closing the recent window or by entering the app information and choosing the Force close option.
The other option is for cases in which your mobile has gone completely crazy or too slow and you cannot use it normally, all you have to do is reboot the phone and in principle, everything will be back to normal when you turn it on again.
