Aaron Finch played 5 Tests, 146 ODIs and 103 T20Is in his long career. Known as a destructive opener, this batsman has set extraordinary records in T20s. In 2018, he scored 172 runs in just 76 balls against Zimbabwe in Harare. It has 10 sixes and 16 fours. This is the highest score recorded by a batsman in International T20. He also scored 156 runs in 63 balls against England in 2013. This is the third highest score in International T20s.
Aaron Finch, who entered the Australian team in 2011, scored 8804 runs, including 17 ODI centuries and two T20 centuries. In these 12 years, Aaron Finch captained the Australian team in 76 T20s and 55 ODI matches. Finch is also a member of the Australian team that won the 2015 ODI World Cup and 2021 T20 World Cup.
Speaking about retirement, Aaron Finch said, “I understand that I will not be able to play till the 2024 T20 World Cup. That’s why I think this is the right time to step down from the responsibilities. This decision was taken to give time to prepare the team for the World Cup. Thanks to the fans who have supported me all these years,” he said.
Although Aaron Finch disappointed in ODIs and Tests, his destruction continued in T20s. Aaron Finch has also been nominated for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Decade Award in 2020. After saying goodbye to international cricket, Finch will play private T20 leagues.
