In 2021, the “average check” for studying at a paid first-year student at the university increased by 10%, HSE Academic Supervisor Yaroslav Kuzminov told Izvestia, citing the results of the annual monitoring carried out by the Higher School of Economics with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science.
The “average check” that Russian families paid for the first course has grown significantly – by 10% in one year, by 17% from 2019, “he said.
According to him, the trend is associated with the demand of the solvent population for higher education institutions and programs of higher quality – as a rule, they are more expensive than “average” offers.
“Every year a consumer of higher education is ready to pay more for the high quality of education and a high reputation of the university, and less and less often – to save on higher education. It is not for nothing that in 2021 the number of students who took out an educational loan increased significantly, “Kuzminov explained.
At the same time, the universities themselves, he added, raise prices cautiously and mainly by the level of inflation.
