AvtoVAZ is going to re-produce Lada Granta cars at a plant in Togliatti from June 8, the company reports on June 3.
“Welding of bodies started on June 3, and the painting line will be completed on June 7. The release of the first commercial vehicles is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, which will be announced later, ”says the Atypical AVTOVAZ community on the VKontakte social network.
The company emphasized that AvtoVAZ had already resumed the work of other divisions – the production of engines, chassis, stamping production, logistics, which ensure the production of Lada Granta.
Due to an acute shortage of automotive components, production lines at AvtoVAZ periodically went into idle time from the beginning of March, and there was also stagnation in May. The company announced the goal of launching the production of imported versions of Lada with a minimum content of foreign components.
A day earlier, it became known that the new Lada Granta from the salon can be purchased for 640-840 thousand rubles. There is no specific description of the trim levels yet, but the list is not limited to one or two trim levels and even includes the Cross version.
On May 31, it became known that the AvtoVAZ plant will start working in two shifts of eight hours each in order to quickly start producing Lada Granta cars. The assembly of a simplified configuration of this model will begin at the enterprise from June 6.
Given the successful development of the situation at the plant, it is also possible that the assembly of Lada Niva and Lada Largus models will be restored in the second half of June.
On May 24, the general director of the company, Maxim Sokolov, at a meeting with the staff of the Togliatti automobile plant, said that AvtoVAZ would probably start production of cars in early June. Sokolov stressed that one of the main tasks of the enterprise is the preservation of its staff.
Rumors that AvtoVAZ would start producing simplified cars appeared in March, but the plant’s press service did not confirm the information. On May 18, a source at the Volga Automobile Plant told Izvestia that the production of Lada Granta, which meets Euro-2 standards, will begin at the end of May. He confirmed that despite the fact that everything that was possible was removed from the car, it nevertheless retained the catalytic converter.
