There are more than 80 lakh vehicles in Greater Hyderabad. It is estimated that 30-40 lakhs of these will travel. Due to morning and evening traffic, one has to spend 30-40 minutes to travel a distance of 10-12 km. Motorists are expressing concern that it is taking 50-60 minutes to drive a kilometer for a few days.
But the police say that the main reason for increasing the traffic problem is the violation of rules. Around 17,000 challans are registered against people who do not follow traffic rules in the city every day. Majority of them are no parking, wrong route, triple riding, not wearing helmet, high speed, driving by minors, drunken driving, number plate and no license. The police noticed that the carts arriving at will on the main roads and the vehicles parked at the shops were becoming a problem for the vehicular traffic. The traffic police are ready to remove them. It is informed that inspections will be carried out today and tomorrow (Friday) and criminal cases will be registered against the violations.
On the other hand, more than 21,000 people are expected to attend the international Formula-E racing competition on the 11th of this month. Due to this, the surrounding areas of NTR Marg, Sachiwalayam and Telugu Thalli, where the racing is organized, were completely closed. Secunderabad-Tankbund side routes will not be allowed on the day of racing. Police officials are preparing to deploy an additional 500 to 600 people for traffic control next Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, police are also issuing instructions to motorists. Traffic rules are strictly followed and cooperation is requested.
