The BIA received the 5 Star Kovid Airport Security Rating in December 2021 following a detailed audit of Kovid safety standards by Skytrax, an international air transportation rating organization. The audit related to the Kovid Pandemic evaluated 175 different safety protocols that help reduce risk and improve the well-being of customers and employees.
Mohammed Youssef Al Bin Falah, CEO of the Bahrain Airport Authority Company, which is in charge of operating the airport, said it was a “proud achievement”. He added that he would try to go further with better performance at the international level.

The ICAO Council reviewed the implementation of health, hygiene and safety measures in line with the recommendations of the Aviation Recovery Task Force and the requirements of the Kingdom of Bahrain Government.
